Lake Tahoe's California
Side North Shore Neighborhoods...
Agate
Bay The
Agate Bay real estate market is comprised mainly
of homes in a neighborhood setting, different
from much of Lake Tahoe.
Agate Bay is located on the beautiful north
shore of Lake Tahoe between Tahoe City and
Kings Beach. Agate Bay real estate is especially
desirable for a family, because of its neighborhood
setting and numerous amenities. Agate Bay is
a subdivision in a woodsy setting with homes
ranging from lakefront to six blocks away from
Lake Tahoe. Many properties in Agate Bay have
membership to the Agate Bay Sun Club. This
club provides a heated swimming pool, hot tub,
private pier and buoys, tennis court, and volleyball
court.
Agate Bay real estate is desirable year around
location. In the summer besides the Agate Bay
Sun Club there are sandy beaches, golf courses,
fishing, mountain biking, hiking trails, rafting,
boating, horseback riding, parasailing, miniature
golf and much more. There are great shops in
Tahoe City (10 minutes), Kings Beach (10 minutes),
and Truckee (25 minutes). There are three casinos
within 15 minutes of Agate Bay real estate.
For winter activities Agate Bay real estate
is within 30 minutes to Squaw Valley, Northstar-At-Tahoe,
Alpine Meadows, and Diamond Peak. Other winter
activities include sleigh rides, sledding,
snowmobiling, cross county skiing, and snowshoeing.
Over all Agate Bay is a unique Tahoe neighborhood.
Agate Bay real estate is very desirable for
families and anyone who wants access to the
numerous amenities offered.
Carnelian Bay
and Carnelian Heights are also known
as The Heart of the North Shore, and offer wooded
properties that are convenient to all amenities
and attractions at Lake Tahoe. Homes range
from small to large & older to
new. Here you will also find Ridgewood.
Kings Beach is located on the north shore of Lake Tahoe,
about 15 minutes from interstate 80 (Truckee)
on state highway 267. Kings Beach has some
of the lower priced homes on the north and
west shores of Lake Tahoe. The town is in
what is known as the “banana belt” of Lake
Tahoe. Compared to other areas at Lake Tahoe,
Kings Beach gets less snow and more sun during
the winter months. Most of the homes in town
are within walking distance to at least one
of the public beaches. The streets running
east-west are named after fish. The streets
running north-south are named after other
animals. Some of the streets and homes boarder
forest service land. Kings Beach is almost
“built out” there are very few buildable
lots left. “What you see is what you get”.
As of spring 2005 there is a very diverse
range of homes and prices in Kings Beach real
estate. There are small “old-Tahoe” cabins,
some one room, starting at less than $300,000
to lake front homes in Brockway Springs for
up to $5,000,000. There are studio condos from
about $160,000 to lake front condos for over
$1,500,000
Kings Beach is currently undergoing a beautification
project. The new public beach between Coon
and Deer just off state highway 28 is a beautiful
beach. There you can rent wave runners, canoes,
kayaks, water bikes, small power boats, and
if you have the nerve you can even parasail.
There is also a nice more secluded public beach
at the end and just east of Secline Street
and state highway 28. Construction is going
on at the beach across from Safeway, a new
and beautiful public beach, and restrooms are
being created. Besides the beaches there is
a golf course in town. There are hiking trails
from Kings Beach to the Tahoe Rim Trail and
to the North Tahoe Regional Park in Tahoe Vista.
For skiing; Northstar at Tahoe and Diamond
Peak are about 15 minutes away, Squaw and Alpine
Meadows are about 35 minutes away, Heavenly
and Sugar Bowl are about 45 minutes away.
In addition to all the outdoor activities
in and around Kings Beach there is a miniature
golf course and a movie theater in town. There
are 3 casinos bordering Kings Beach at Crystal
Bay.
The local community is involved in the future
of the area. There is a redevelopment committee.
The committee is currently involved in deciding
on future improvements and upgrades for the
town including but not limited to side walks,
street lights, planters, bike lanes, and traffic
circles.
Over all Kings Beach is an excellent place
to call home or to visit as a home away from
home.
Dollar
Point This area offers much
of what you find in Tahoe City and Carnelian
Bay
with the addition of a homeowners association
pier, buoys, tennis courts and a swimming pool. Tahoe
Vista is
located on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, about
15 minutes from interstate 80 (Truckee) on
State Highway 267. The town is in what is known
as the “banana belt” of Lake Tahoe. Compared
to other areas at Lake Tahoe, Tahoe Vista gets
less snow and more sun during the winter months.
Most of the homes in this area are within walking
distance to at least one of the public beaches,
and trails leading to North Tahoe Regional
Park. Tahoe Vista is bordered by the National
Forest and a wetland area including the “Beaver
Pond”.
The area contains an eclectic mix of homes
and prices. As of Spring 2005 there are small
“old-Tahoe” cabins, some about as small as
about 400 square feet, that would sell for
around $300,000. There are also lake front
homes in Tahoe Vista that would probably sell
for over $5,000,000. There are studio condos
from approximately $200,000 to lakefronts condos
for over $1,000,000. There is a new upscale
shared ownership lake front complex in the
area.
There are two public beaches; Moon Dunes and
Sandy Beach. Moon Dunes is as secluded as it
gets on this side of the lake, but has easy
access. The beach is situated between the lake
and a large sand dune, the sand dune is a natural
barrier between the beach and the road. It
is a very nice private beach, most tourists
don’t know about this beach. Unlike Moon Dunes,
Sandy Beach has shade trees, making this beach
good for people who don’t like sitting in the
sun. At Sandy Beach you can rent canoes and
kayaks. There is a public boat launch in Tahoe
Vista.
The trails for hiking, biking, and cross country
skiing are within walking distance to most
homes in Tahoe Vista. There are miles of trails
virtually out your back door. From Tahoe Vista
you can access the regional park and the Tahoe
Rim Trail. The North Tahoe Regional Park has
nice filtered views of Lake Tahoe. The park
has tennis courts, baseball and soccer fields
play ground equipment, and a sledding hill.
For skiing: Northstar at Tahoe and Diamond
Peak are about 15 minutes away, Squaw and Alpine
Meadows are about 35 minutes away, Heavenly
Valley and Sugar Bowl are about 45 minutes
away.
In addition within a 10 minute drive there
is a golf course, movie theater, 3 casinos,
2 miniature golf courses, and several more
public beaches. Tahoe City is about 10 minutes
away and Truckee is about 15 minutes.
Tahoe Vista is a beautiful area that is well
located but somewhat secluded!
Cedar Flat offers
a beautiful wooded setting with lovely Old
Tahoe cabins. Homeowners enjoy a beach and
pier on Lake Tahoe.
Kingswood, Brockway
Summit and Squaw Valley...

community located off of highway 267. Kingswood
offers condominiums
and single-family homes.

the north is just around the bend from the
North Shore casinos on the state line of California
and Nevada. This area boasts many lovely Lake
Tahoe views and one of the locals' favorite
beaches.

Valley is just

Squaw
Valley
